How to lock or unlock the function key on HP notebook computers
A printed icon that denotes a supplementary action, such as muting sound or altering display brightness, is frequently seen on the keyboard's function keys (f1 through f12). Enabled: The function keys' printed actions can be used without holding down the fn key.
For instance, pushing the f8 key lowers the sound as indicated on the key. The fn + f8 keys can also minimize and maximize a web browser.

Disabled: The activities listed on the function keys can only be used by hitting the fn key.

Press the right or left arrow key to select Enable or Disable the Fn Key switch.
Press the f10 key to save the settings and restart the computer.
