What is DDR 3 RAM?

DDR4 RAM stands for Double data rate fourth generation. It is a type of memory specially designed to be a better, faster, more reliable replacement for DDR3 in the laptop.

·        The density of the DDR4 RAM is 2 GB to 128 GB.

·        It has performance and capacity of up to 3200 MT/s for better data transfer at the fastest rate.

·        It has Decreased voltage for better power consumption at 1.2 V for better power saving and higher productivity.

·        It Provides better (RAS) reliability, availability, and serviceability, as well as improves the data integrity of the laptop.

·        DDR4  is one of the most used latest generation RAM installed in newer laptops for fast performance compared to all DRAM-oriented modules.

·        The latest Intel Xeon Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Scalable range processors and 8th-generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3 processors support DDR4 RAM.

Difference between DDR3 and DDR4 RAM

These are the following differences between DDR3 and DDR4 RAM  -:     

· The module of DDR4 RAM  looks very similar to a DDR3 module RAM in physical appearance.

·        DDR4 has 288 pins and DDR3 laptop RAM has 240 pins

·        DDR4 SO-DIMMS have 260 pins and DDR3 SO-DIMMS have 204 Pins.

· The DDR4 key has a notch at a different place. Its edge connector resembles a slightly curved "V," which facilitates insertion.

·        DDR3 is less power efficient as compared to DDR4.

·        DDR3  has a data transfer data rate as compared to DDR4.

·        The latest versions of laptops support DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3.

·        DDR4 RAM density is higher than DDR3 RAM.

·        DDR4 RAM is more power efficient, leading to better laptop work performance than DDR3.
