Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys that you can press on your keyboard to perform various actions. Using keyboard shortcuts is often faster than using a mouse because you can put both hands on the keyboard. Keyboard shortcuts are also universal, which means you can use many of the same shortcuts in different applications. For example, you can use shortcuts to copy and paste text in the word processor and web browser.
Many shortcuts require pressing two or more keys in a specific sequence. For example, to execute the shortcut Ctrl + X, you would hold down the Ctrl key, press the X key, then release.
You’ll execute most keyboard shortcuts using the Ctrl (Control) or Alt key. You’ll find these keys near the bottom-left corner of your keyboard.
